Impact

The Coterie is home to Marlborough’s oldest organic vineyard, lovingly known as ‘The Brink’…

We take great pride in being the custodians of this 2.6 hectare block, where we produce Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and a new addition of Chenin Blanc. Thirty years ago, the previous owners had the foresight to nurture this land with resilience in mind. Today, our vineyard is alive with biodiversity. Our team understands that the vines can often regulate themselves and know just when to step in to help them flourish.

Kaitiakitanga in every step…

Our vineyard and winery are certified organic because we actually care about what goes into your glass (and the planet). We've stacked up the certifications—BioGro NZ, Appellation Marlborough Wine, Sustainable Winegrowers New Zealand, and B Corp—to show we're putting purpose before profit with a holistic approach to sustainability. It's not just a badge thing, it's how we roll.

Initiatives

Green Energy

Let’s be real, making wine takes energy. We’ve cut back where we can, swapped out our lightbulbs, installed timers, but we know there’s more work to do. That’s why we’re harnessing all that Marlborough sunshine to produce our own green energy. It’s a project that’ll scale with us as we grow, because sustainability isn’t a one-and done thing.

Water Reduction

We're already using less water than the regional average, but we're not stopping there. Every year we're pushing to cut back more and upgrading our systems to squeeze out every bit of efficiency we can. There's always another level to reach.

A circular economy

When it comes to waste, we want to reuse everything we can. That's why you'll find about 400 tonnes of compost tucked away after vintage. All those nutrients go straight back into our vineyards—we're working to change the way people see grape marc, one season at a time.
